“We're all about proactive, ongoing development.” That was the message heard loud and clear as staff from the PORR Building Construction Eastern Region locations in Berlin, Schmölln and Dresden came together in Berlin on 17 June. After two years of forced hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Eastern Region management, led by Andreas Kimling and Marc Leutloff, were finally able to hold their Building Construction Day, which used to take place annually.
The event is used for centralised training and strategic alignment. After a look back at 2021, the focus turned to upcoming targets and projects in 2022 and subsequent years. Reports on current projects and major iTWO/BIM topics were presented by PORR experts Frank Kiupel and Anton Fröhlich, using examples from calculation projects. Björn Kass, Head of Occupational Safety at PORR, gave a talk on occupational safety to round out the programme of events.
One highlight was the appearance by keynote speaker Ewald Lienen, a former football player and manager, who gave a heartfelt and inspiring talk from the perspective of someone outside the construction industry.
One member of staff expressed the unanimous opinion of all who attended: “It was great to finally experience a Building Construction Day live and in person, exchange ideas with colleagues from different locations and set a course for the future. What a fantastic event!”
