Facade celebration for extension to Gütersloh District Court
Gütersloh, / Building construction
Almost exactly one year after construction began, work on the Gütersloh District Court took a brief break on 28 October 2025 for a special occasion: the façade celebration. Together with representatives of the Building and Real Estate Management Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia (BLB NRW) as the owner, the judiciary as the tenant, politicians and architects, PORR Hochbau West celebrated the completion of the approximately 1,000 square metre exposed concrete façade of the new extension building.
PORR Hochbau West celebrates the completion of the exposed concrete façade with BLB NRW, the judiciary and project participants.
Sebastian Grimm, branch manager of the responsible PORR branch in Gütersloh, is enthusiastic about the excellent cooperation between all parties involved: "There are several reasons why we are not only meeting our deadlines, but in some cases even beating them. On the one hand, we use the collaborative Last Planner method to make workflows as efficient as possible. Secondly, communication with the architectural firm and the construction management team at BLB NRW has been exemplary and constructive."
Modern extension for more space
Once the move is complete, the magistrate's court will have around 2,350 square metres of additional space at its disposal. This will enable all branch offices to work together in a modern location in future. The four-storey reinforced concrete building connects to the front of the listed old building from the 1960s and adds a striking architectural accent with its purist exposed concrete façade. A total of 143 precast concrete elements were installed, including 28 perforated elements that give the glazed stairwells a light-flooded, open atmosphere.
During the winter months, interior work and the installation of building services – including a geothermal heat pump – will be in full swing so that the extension can be handed over as planned.
