Modernisation of the Südschnellweg: drone video shows progress in Hanover
Hannover, / Structural engineering
The historic B3 transport axis, one of the most important east-west connections in the south of Hanover, has been undergoing extensive renovation since 2023. The Südschnellweg is receiving a forward-looking update.
The PORR/PORR Spezialtiefbau/Hagedorn consortium is modernising the Südschnellweg on behalf of the Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport. First, the consortium constructed a 940-metre-long temporary bridge parallel to the existing elevated road. Once this was completed, the old bridge was demolished.
A 1,100-metre-long road tunnel with ramp structures is then being built, which will pass under Hildesheimer Straße and Schützenallee. This will not only increase road safety, but also ensure the long-term efficiency of this important transport axis.
Our drone video impressively conveys the scale of the project and shows how the construction work fits into the cityscape.
