The Berlin-Lichtenberg project is now underway: foundation stone laid for âFerdinandâs Gardenâ

Last Friday, 28 October 2021, saw the laying of the foundation stone for the âFerdinandâs Gardenâ project on Ferdinand-Schultze Strasse in Berlin-Lichtenberg. Lakeward Management AG appointed PORR as main contractor for the project. The construction scheme comprises 395 functional, affordable housing units with standard and solid finishing standards and 79 rent-controlled housing units. The units are scheduled to be occupied by the end of 2023.
Simon Koenig, founder and CEO of Lakeward: âIn cooperation with our partners, we are creating a new, vibrant residential district in a great location. A daycare centre, play areas, green courtyards and green roofs will also add value to the immediate surroundings. Today's foundation stone laying marks the birth of an urban, sophisticated, yet affordable residential space and will further boost Lichtenbergâs credentials as a residential, living and working district of Berlin.
Lakeward has set itself the goal of making âEnvironmental Social Governanceâ (ESG) a key focus of the project. PORR will support this initiative and actively contribute as a business.
