Biogas plant, Pessin

Pessin, Germany / 07.2014 - 12.2015

A biogas plant for CO fermentation of renewable raw materials and cattle manure as well as a biogas treatment plant and a combined heat and power plant with an electrical output of 400 kW were built on an area of approx. 46,900 m2. Oevermann was awarded the contract for the construction of the outdoor facilities for this Pessin biogas plant.

Strict requirements.

As the storage of the raw materials on the areas provided for this purpose leads to a very acidic environment with a ph-value con < 3, strict requirements apply to the construction and design of the surface pavement and the underlying drainage for these areas. Due to the requirements for impermeability, the pavement of the driving silo chambers was constructed without joints using acid-resistant mix.

Protection of the groundwater.

Both the asphalt base course and the surface course were acid-resistant, low in carbonate and thus tendered without the addition of recycled material. In addition, a void content of less than 4% of the finished asphalt base course and less than 3% of the asphalt surface course was required. Under the acid-resistant unbound base course, the storage area was sealed against the subsoil by means of a 1 mm thick PE film based on the VAWS specifications in order to prevent the acidic substrate residues from seeping into the soil. The liquid residues of the substrate are led via jointless asphalt channels into the inlets of the welded PE coiled pipes DN 800, from which the substrate is returned to the recycling circuit. The uncontaminated precipitation water is channelled into infiltration basins via a separate system.
