The consortium consisting of PORR Verkehrswegebau, Heinz Bente, and Gerhard Rode Rohrleitungsbau is constructing a new 110-kV high-voltage cable route for the Hansa Business Park on behalf of Stadtnetze Münster. The project is a key component for the future energy supply of the innovation location and, in particular, the new battery research factory.

Energy for the future: PORR builds power line at Hansa-BusinessPark Münster
With the commissioning of the battery research factory, the power demand at Hansa-BusinessPark will increase to up to 23 megawatts. To meet this demand, a new substation with a powerful 110-kV connection to the Münster power grid is being built. The plan is to lay a new power line approximately six kilometers long. The consortium is responsible for constructing the line, which will mainly be built using open construction methods as a traveling construction site in around 100 sections ranging from 50 to 200 meters in length.
Protective pipe laying with HDD and press drilling
The construction method will be predominantly open with shoring boxes, while closed methods such as HDD and press drilling will be used for railway and water crossings. A total of six HDD drillings and one press drilling under the DB route are planned. The socket pits will be constructed after completion of the empty pipe route. These pits will be used for the subsequent installation of the power cables. The Kappenberger Dam was widened in November 2024 to avoid a complete closure during the main construction phase.
Precision despite limited space
The work is being carried out under flowing traffic on short construction sections with limited space. Intersecting lines, varying soil conditions and a high groundwater level pose particular challenges.
With this project, PORR Verkehrswegebau is making an important contribution to the energy transition and to ensuring a sustainable infrastructure for Münster as a center of innovation.
