Backfilling & recultivation

Recultivation
Responsible treatment of nature.

A key aspect after the extraction of sand and gravel is the further utilisation of the area. In order to be able to renaturalise or recultivate the resulting areas after extraction, so-called "backfilling" is a central component of the extraction process. In this process, the areas are closed again in stages with carefully selected materials.

Recultivation refers to the restoration of arable land and near-natural habitats for plants and animals that have been altered during the extraction of sand and gravel. Through recultivation, the areas used by us are returned to nature and designed in accordance with both natural requirements and official requirements.

Certificates/Approvals.

Ensuring quality requirements are met is a top priority at PORR. This is also demonstrated by our certificates and approvals. To ensure we are always up to date, our certificates and approvals are regularly reviewed and renewed by external audits and independent certification bodies.
