Münster, / Building construction

Where news once made its way through Münster via telephone lines and telecommunications systems, a new hub of life is now taking shape: with the second construction phase of the Rudolf Carree, PORR building construction West is continuing the development of a unique residential quarter in the sought-after Mauritzviertel. The client and project company is Rudolf Carree GmbH, a subsidiary of Grimm Holding GmbH. The architectural design for service phases 1 to 4 was carried out by LANDHEER ARCHITEKTEN. From service phase 5 onwards, the project is being managed by HLK – PARTNER ENTWICKLUNGSGESELLSCHAFT mbH & Co. KG.

In the Mauritzviertel district of Münster, PORR building construction West is constructing the second phase of the Rudolf Carree.

The history of the Rudolf Carree is closely linked to the development of the neighbourhood. Where the former telecommunications exchange once dominated the area, a residential quarter is now taking shape that bridges the past and the future. Following the successful completion of the first construction phase, the final part of the development is now under construction. The new building blends harmoniously into the existing quarter, which has long since become a sought-after place to live in Münster.

“With the Rudolf Carree, a former infrastructure site is gradually being transformed into a vibrant residential quarter. It is impressive to see how the future building will complement the character of the entire quarter and provide a home for many people in the future,” says Mario Schniedergers, Münster branch manager at PORR building construction West.

Building in the heart of the Mauritz quarter

The second construction phase comprises a block of flats with a total of 50 flats, spread across the ground floor and five upper floors. 90 per cent of the flats have already been sold. The building also features a basement and connects to the underground car park already completed in the first construction phase. The project thus makes an important contribution to creating additional living space in one of Münster’s most sought-after residential areas. For PORR, this construction project represents the highest standards of build quality within a confined inner-city space. At the same time, the ongoing activities in the existing quarter must be taken into account. The structural work is scheduled to take place between March 2026 and February 2027.

Modern flats for different lifestyles

The new flats will be accessible and offer a variety of floor plans for singles, couples and families. Balconies and terraces extend the living space outwards and create attractive outdoor areas. At the same time, the direct connection to the existing underground car park ensures added convenience in everyday life.

The project also utilises state-of-the-art technical solutions. Heating is provided via district heating, whilst green outdoor areas and high-quality building fittings contribute to the quarter’s long-term appeal.

Urban development with added value

The location in the heart of the Mauritz district is particularly attractive. The quarter combines proximity to Münster city centre with easy access to local amenities, restaurants, healthcare facilities and green spaces. This not only creates new housing but also a living environment that combines urban life with a high quality of life. The quarter serves as a prime example of how former infrastructure sites can be sustainably repurposed and transformed into modern living spaces.
