PORR transport route engineering gets federal roads 40 back in shape

/ Transport route engineering

On behalf of Hessen Mobil, Road and Traffic Management, Wiesbaden – Rhine-Main Construction Division, PORR transport route engineering, Major Projects Branch, in cooperation with the Osnabrück Branch, has been comprehensively renovating the federal roads 40 since May 2025. The project involves renewing the road surface over a length of around two kilometers as well as renovating the ramp at the Sindlingen junction in the direction of the BAB66.

The renovation work extends eastbound from the Krifteler Dreieck junction to the Frankfurt-Sindlingen junction, and westbound from the Sindlingen Main Bridge to the Krifteler Dreieck junction. The construction work is divided into several sections and is scheduled to be completed by the end of September 2025.

Preparatory work on setting up the traffic management system began in May. The actual repair work started at the beginning of June. Two lanes in each direction will remain open throughout the runtime. In order to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible while ensuring occupational safety, median crossings will be set up and the carriageway at the Frankfurt-Sindelfingen junction will be temporarily widened.
The construction site poses particular logistical challenges for the traffic infrastructure construction team: for example, the limited space available requires precise coordination of construction equipment while traffic continues to flow. Maintaining full traffic access is a top priority for everyone involved throughout the entire construction project.
