Hamburg, Germany / 10.2022 - 01.2024
As part of the development of the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier in HafenCity, PORR Hochbau Nord was commissioned to construct the shell of two hotel buildings for the Accor Group. Engineering in building construction
PORR was responsible for the shell construction of two hotels with gross floor areas of 16,913 m² and 8,168 m². The progress of construction impressively demonstrated the close cooperation between the divisions involved: thanks to the seamless cooperation between building construction and civil engineering, the technically demanding steel and composite structures were successfully and precisely implemented.
An architectural highlight of the southern section is an integrated bridge with a swimming pool embedded in it – a challenging construction that required a high degree of engineering precision. The project also posed a logistical challenge: narrow access roads in HafenCity, the involvement of over 200 companies, and the necessary crane movements within the complex required ongoing coordination and careful planning.
A new central building block in HafenCity
Cosmopolitan, open, and urban – the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is more than just a construction project. As an integrated district, it combines living and working spaces with a wide range of cultural, leisure, and shopping opportunities. The innovative cruise terminal is a particular highlight. With this mixed-use project in the southern Überseequartier, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield is creating a vibrant urban center that shapes the modern character of Hamburg.
