Oberursel
Wastewater treatment plant
Oberursel, Germany / 01.2021 - 03.2024
The Oberursel sewage treatment works is being expanded to include a flocculation and filtration plant. This project will see additional wastewater treatment facilities constructed on the site of the sewage treatment works. PORR structural engineering, Düsseldorf branch, has been commissioned to carry out the structural work for the machinery and filter building. In addition, a new intermediate pumping station as well as the associated technical installations are being built.

Structural work on the flocculation and filtration plant at the Oberursel sewage treatment works
Expansion of the Urselbach sewage treatment works
The Urselbach rises in the Hochtaunus and flows through the town of Oberursel before joining the Nidda near Frankfurt-Heddernheim. As part of the expansion of the sewage treatment works, a flocculation-filtration plant is being constructed. The new plant will complement the existing wastewater treatment facilities on the site.
Structural work in the floodplain
The plant is being built within a floodplain of the Urselbach. As a result, special construction requirements had to be taken into account. The structural work is taking place in a watertight construction pit. In addition to the machinery and filter building, the infrastructure for the subsequent connection to the existing facilities is being installed.
Part of a multi-stage plant concept
The new flocculation and filtration plant builds on existing components of the sewage treatment works. During operation, the filtration system will be fed via an intermediate pumping station, whilst the required operating chemicals will be dosed via existing plant components.
This expands the technical infrastructure of the sewage treatment works to include additional structures and process steps.
Infrastructure for the further development of the sewage treatment works
The machinery building, the filter building and the intermediate pumping station are new components of the Oberursel sewage treatment works. The structural work creates the physical conditions necessary for integrating the new plant technology into the existing wastewater infrastructure and supports the gradual further development of the site on the Urselbach.
