PORR constructs shell of logistics centre in Recklinghausen
With the ground-breaking ceremony in February 2025, a tight schedule began for the Münster branch of PORR building construction West: the shell construction with a gross floor area of 16,853 m² and a volume of 9,349 m³ is scheduled for completion in July 2026.
In order to keep to the tight schedule, the shell will be constructed using prefabricated elements. The Group's sister companies CMG Gesellschaft für Baulogistik and PORR Equipment Services (PES) are on board to ensure a smooth supply of containers, formwork, machinery and equipment.
The excavation pit will be secured in some areas with soldier pile shoring and the subsoil will be additionally reinforced with micropiles in some places. To ensure the stability of the adjacent high-bay storage facilities, the existing foundation must be partially underpinned. Due to the high groundwater level, open dewatering is essential during the construction work. The basement areas of the shell itself will be constructed as a water-impermeable concrete structure. As a special feature, a sprinkler tank of approx. 2,200 m³ will be constructed in a section of the basement using in-situ concrete as a waterproof structure.
