A. WAGGERSHAUSER STRASSENBAU GmbH + Co. KG, a subsidiary company of PORR, has thoroughly tidied up the expansion of the Neue Straße in the idyllic town of Owen in Baden-Württemberg. Since the existing water, gas, telecommunications and broadband lines were partly lying completely disorderly in the ground, it had become necessary to lay important supply lines again in addition to the road expansion.
In the first construction phase, Neue Straße was fully upgraded over a length of around 500 metres between Beurener Straße and Wasenweg, with the new surface laid at a depth of 60 centimetres. This was done for the first time, with a carriageway width of 5.5 metres and a pavement on one side. In addition, the contract included the construction of a new rainwater sewer to separate rainwater and wastewater, the rehabilitation of an existing combined sewer including the shafts, as well as the renewal of street lighting and green spaces. In addition to the city of Owen, the clients included the respective pipeline operators Netze BW, C. Ensinger and Deutsche Telekom.
The top priority of the construction project was to complete the work as quickly as possible while taking into account the 30 residents. For example, emergency supply lines had to be set up while the existing lines were being dismantled. The work for the installation of the new house connections, as well as the courtyard adjustments, were carried out by personal arrangement.
What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
