Frankipile NG® foundations for ten wind turbines
Foundations for wind turbines
The planned wind turbines required deep foundations to permanently transfer the loads from the structures into the load-bearing soil layers. For this project, foundations using Frankipiles NG® were installed. The pile foundations form the basis for the tower foundations of the ten wind turbines.
336 Frankipiles NG®
A total of 336 Frankipiles NG® were manufactured for the foundations. The piles have a diameter of 56 cm and range in length from 7.2 m to 14 m. The piles were installed in the load-bearing soil layers in accordance with the geotechnical conditions and are responsible for transferring the loads from the wind turbines.
Subsoil in the East Frisian coastal region
The subsoil consisted of sands as well as cohesive soil layers. In some places, very densely packed sand layers were encountered, which had to be taken into account during the production of the piles. The design of the pile foundations was adapted to the geological conditions of the site.
Test loads to verify bearing capacity
Two tensile load tests were carried out to verify the bearing capacity of the foundation elements. The tests served to verify the bearing capacity of the piles and supplemented the geotechnical analyses for the foundations of the wind turbines.
Planning and supervision of works
isg supervised the planning of the pile foundations for approval and construction, as well as the execution of the load tests. Support was also provided for the structural analysis of the foundation elements.
Basis for the Ochtersum wind farm
The installation of 336 Frankipiles NG® laid the groundwork for the construction of the ten wind turbines. The pile foundation transfers the load from the turbines into the load-bearing soil layers and forms the basis for the further development of the wind farm.
