Excavation support for a residential building with an underground car park

Housing development in the Milbertshofen district

The construction project is located in the Milbertshofen district of Munich. A residential building with an underground car park is being constructed on the site. PORR special civil engineering is responsible for securing the excavation pit for the project.

Excavation pit stabilisation in an inner-city setting

The construction site is situated in the inner courtyard of a densely built-up residential neighbourhood. A sloped construction pit is being created for the construction of the underground car park. The slopes are being stabilised using jetcrete and ground anchors. The chosen stabilisation measures have been tailored to the space constraints and the geotechnical conditions of the site.

Special requirements for site logistics

Access to the site is via a narrow side street with a height restriction. Furthermore, the construction site is situated in the rear courtyard of the quarter. The available space influences the choice of equipment used and the organisation of site logistics. Due to the limited space, bagged material is used for the jetcrete work. Large silos cannot be erected on the construction site.

DGNB certification for the construction site

The construction site has been certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) as a ‘Sustainable Construction Site in Special Civil Engineering’. The certification process takes project-specific criteria into account. These include, amongst other things, the documentation of energy and water consumption, the management of construction site waste, as well as the recycling of materials such as reinforcing steel and ground nails.

Foundation for the new building

The completion of the excavation pit stabilisation work lays the groundwork for the construction of the new residential building with an underground car park. The work carried out forms the basis for the subsequent structural work on the site on Pfitznerstraße.
