Micro-flats in the heart of a growing metropolis
Temporary accommodation in Hamburg-Altona
The building was designed to cater for a variety of housing needs. The flats range from compact units with around 20 m² of living space to penthouse flats with around 40 m² and their own roof terrace. All flats are furnished and feature their own self-contained facilities.
In addition, communal areas have been created, as well as communal kitchens, fitness areas and co-gardening spaces. Car and bicycle parking spaces have been integrated into the overall design in the basement.
Planning and implementation in a confined space
The realisation of the project presented the team with particular organisational challenges. Only limited space was available for site facilities and logistics, whilst the space constraints also made it difficult to erect the crane.
From the initial planning stages right through to completion, the client, lead designer and construction teams worked closely together. Technical adjustments were coordinated during the course of the project and incorporated into the implementation.
Flats and communal areas under one roof
The 327 flats form the core of the building. These are complemented by communal areas for study, leisure and socialising. The result is a residential building that brings together private and communal uses within a single concept.
