New residential development in Reudnitz

The ‘Neue Kohlgärten’ are being built to the east of Leipzig city centre on Kohlgartenstraße and Bergstraße. The surrounding area is characterised by Gründerzeit-style residential buildings as well as a mix of residential and commercial uses. The new development draws on this urban structure. The residential buildings at Bergstraße 2a and 2b incorporate elements of Gründerzeit architecture, including bay windows, balconies and a correspondingly structured façade design. On Kohlgartenstraße, an apartment block complements the ensemble.

A variety of housing types in one location

The residential complex comprises 28 two- to four-room flats as well as 84 smaller rental flats. This means that a variety of flat sizes and layouts are being realised within the project. The buildings are being constructed to the Efficiency House 55 standard. This means that the relevant building standard forms an integral part of the planning and execution.

Continuation of the collaboration in Leipzig

With the ‘Neue Kohlgärten’, PORR and PROPOS are continuing their collaboration in the Leipzig area. PORR had previously completed the ‘Cospuden’ residential quarter for the project developer.

Integration into the established urban fabric

The ‘Neue Kohlgärten’ project involves the further development of an existing vacant plot within the established urban fabric of Reudnitz. The design draws on the ‘Gründerzeit’ character of the surrounding area and translates this into a new residential development. In this way, the existing building structure along Kohlgartenstraße and Bergstraße is continued.
