Residential project by the religious order: Nuns actively help shape urban district

On the grounds of the former monastery, not far from Münster's old town, the religious community is building an apartment building with 57 apartments, underground parking, and outdoor facilities behind the LVM Insurance premises. Each apartment has direct access to the outdoors—either via a balcony or terrace. The attic apartments are designed as maisonettes. With this project, the religious community is actively shaping the urban quarter after moving into its new provincial house on part of the site in 2020.

Sophisticated architecture meets functional design

The five-story building is directly adjacent to an existing residential area and adopts its urban structure. To achieve a relaxed and friendly effect, the 82-meter-high, 20-meter-wide and 20-meter-high structure is architecturally divided into six units. Alternating clinker facades in light beige, light red and red, as well as varying roof tile colors, ensure visual diversity and harmonious integration into the surroundings.

PORR scores with its all-inclusive package

PORR project manager Alfred Sickmann is delighted with the new local customer: "Our good reputation in the Münster region is both an incentive and an obligation for us. Early praise is nice, but in the end, the only thing that counts is that our client can rely on our all-inclusive package, both technically and economically. The watertight excavation pit directly adjacent to the neighboring buildings requires all of our expertise in special civil engineering. In addition, it is our declared goal to construct a high-quality building with low investment costs and long-term favorable operating costs."
