City Bike Challenge 2024: BBGS spins the pedals!
/ News
BBGS cycled for three weeks to promote climate protection, cycling and quality of life. For a third year in a row, the BBGS employees in Kaiserslautern took on the challenge to move around town on their bikes. In doing so, they collected kilometer points within the team and for the local community; and thus, they promoted cycling as a means of daily transportation. With an e-bike or a city bike, every collected kilometer point was important, and those were collected through any activity on a bike such as commuting to work, cycling for leisure, or shopping.
The BBGS teams who took part in the city cycling campaign had the opportunity to meet up for a bike ride in their spare time. For two consecutive Fridays, they cycled for 37 kilometers through the Palatinate Forest, where fitness and endurance were required. In addition to their personal motivation, the BBGS teams were also particularly keen on manifesting their commitment to the environment and climate change. BBGS promotes environmental sustainability, and often delivers LEED-certified projects. This was demonstrated by the increased number of participants and the new record of over 2,774km (vs 2,453km in 2023)! This shows that that joint sporting activities are very much in vogue and is very popular among construction engineers.
It was not just the record within BBGS that was beaten; in total, all participants in the city bike challenge cycled for over 155,000 km within the city of Kaiserslautern. Dennis Kolb, a team captain and top cyclist at BBGS, commented: "With every kilometer we advance, we are setting an example for sustainability, climate protection and a bicycle-friendly city. So be part of this inspiring movement. Together we can achieve something great!"
