New neighbourhood on former barracks site
Over the next few years, a vibrant urban quarter will be created on a converted barracks site of around 18 hectares in the former garrison town. With its proximity to the city centre, eleven listed buildings in North German brick Gothic style, which are grouped around the former Wilhelminian parade ground as the new green centre of the district, it is a stroke of urban planning luck. In addition to various residential concepts, areas for offices and service providers, a daycare centre and a creative quarter for the local art, culture and creative scene are being realised.
The Gütersloh branch was commissioned to build three elegant apartment blocks with a total of 36 freehold flats on construction site 16. The turnkey construction comprises high-quality fittings including all electrical connections.
‘As a general contractor, we form the decisive interface for individual requests,’ explains PORR branch manager Sebastian Grimm. Thanks to efficient processing and personalised support, individual adaptations are seamlessly integrated.’
Lean construction ensures satisfaction and deadlines
The close coordination between PORR's project and construction management, the responsible department at the client BPD and the flat owners is working perfectly. The open communication is unanimously praised. However, the satisfaction is also due to the tried-and-tested lean construction methods that PORR uses on practically every construction project. ‘In Paderborn, we have been using the Last Planner system since the start of construction. This allows us to strengthen the effective cooperation of all project participants and ensure that the agreed deadlines are met,’ adds Grimm.
