New building and restoration of historical monument
PORR’s scope of services included earthworks, masonry, concrete and reinforced concrete work as well as various renovation works in the existing historical building section. In this respect, PORR was able to showcase the quality of their work and compliance with the deadlines and cost plan.
The newly constructed five-storey building was erected behind the existing listed and provisionally propped-up façade. During the construction of the shell, the historic gables were integrated into the new reinforced concrete structure.
Due to the central location of the project, access to the construction site with spatially limited residential streets and pedestrian zones proved to be particularly challenging.
Archaeological excavations in the construction pit were a special highlight of this project. In the course of the earthworks, sensational finds from the 13th century were discovered, and in some places there were even indication of finds dating back to the 11th century.
Another highlight of this particularly appealing building is on show behind the 3 historic ‘Lampe gables’: the office of the world-famous company founder Dr August Oetker, furnished with his original furniture (desk, chair, pictures, doors, lamps).
