New school campus for Freising
Expansion of the school campus
The new building will form part of the future school campus in Freising. A triple-purpose sports hall is being built alongside the school building. The site’s buildings, which have hitherto been separate, will in future be linked by a newly planned boulevard.
The plans call for a building with a basement, comprising a ground floor, three upper floors as well as technical installations on the roof. The building will be complemented by large-scale communal areas and the integrated sports hall.
Construction at the existing school site
The work is taking place in the immediate vicinity of existing school buildings. At the same time, differences in elevation of up to 15 metres as well as the limited access to the building site are affecting the construction process. The building’s foundation also poses particular challenges. It will be constructed using bored piles and will be tailored to the dimensions of the new building. The project is being implemented in accordance with the criteria of the Sustainable Building Quality Seal (QNG) and aims to achieve DGNB certification.
Hybrid construction method for the new building
The school centre is being constructed using a hybrid frame construction method. This involves the use of concrete, steel as well as timber-concrete composite elements.
Project management utilises, amongst other things, Lean Construction, Building Information Modelling (BIM) as well as the iTWO billing system. Various specialist divisions of PORR are involved in the implementation. pde Timber is contributing its expertise in the field of timber-concrete composite floors.
A cornerstone of the future school campus
The new building will create the structural foundations for the expansion of the vocational school site in Freising. The school building, sports hall and open spaces will in future form part of a cohesive campus that complements and further develops the existing facilities on the site.
