At Kökerstraße 6–8 in Gütersloh, PORR building construction region West has completed a four-storey residential and commercial building. The new development comprises around 5,900 m² of gross floor area, featuring 28 rental flats, a commercial unit on the ground floor as well as an underground car park with 32 parking spaces. PORR acted as the main contractor for the project.

Residential and commercial use in the historic town centre
The building was constructed in the immediate vicinity of Martin Luther Church and other listed buildings. The shopping areas of Gütersloh town centre and the town museum are also located in the immediate vicinity. The combination of flats and commercial buildings on the ground floor brings together different uses within a single building.
Building within inner-city constraints
The location in Gütersloh town centre shaped the organisation of the construction work. Limited space for site facilities, storage and material deliveries had to be taken into account when planning the construction schedule.
The individual construction phases and the trades involved were co-ordinated in accordance with the site’s spatial constraints.
New uses on Kökerstraße
With the construction of this mixed-use residential and commercial building, the site on Kökerstraße has been given a new architectural purpose. The combination of residential and commercial functions creates the spatial conditions for different uses within a single building, thereby complementing the existing structure of Gütersloh’s town centre.
