PORR's Building Construction – North section built a six-storey residential building on the Kühnehöfe site in Bahrenfeld, Hamburg. The new block of flats has a gross floor area of 8,300m2, 101 residential units and an underground car park with 61 parking spaces. While completing turnkey construction of the building, the on-site project teams also took responsibility for implementing special requirements for the owners of the new flats during the construction stage.
Community and personal space
Modern buildings take various approaches to counteracting the anonymity of the big city. Here in the Kühnehöfe, the roof garden is a place where residents can meet and build community among the peaceful oases, children's play areas, and raised beds for keen urban gardeners.

Urban living in Altona
The flats themselves, mostly with their own balcony or terrace, offer plenty of personal space and scope for individuality. The options range from micro-apartments to spacious, light and airy four-room homes.
Business zone
The Kühnehöfe business zone was developed on the former Kühne KG site. This is no office monoculture: the site today has a varied mix of residences, hotel accommodation, offices, and places to eat. Fronting the street, the red clinker brick facade, with its vertical and horizontal 'backbones', draws on the traditional industrial architecture that formerly characterised Altona's Bahrenfeld district.
