Stadttor

Gütersloh, Germany / 03.2025 - 08.2026

On the outskirts of Gütersloh town centre, the ‘Stadttor Gütersloh’ – a complex comprising three office and retail buildings – is taking shape. PORR building construction West, Gütersloh branch, is carrying out the project on a turnkey basis on behalf of the Porta founding families, the Fahrenkamps and the Gärtners.

The image shows a construction site where a building is under construction. The building is partially completed and surrounded by scaffolding. Various building materials are scattered around the site. On the left side of the image is a large yellow crane. Several trees can be seen in the foreground, while residential buildings and a clear blue sky are visible in the background.

Offices, hotels and commercial buildings all in one location

A variety of uses at Stadttor Gütersloh

The three buildings cover a total of around 17,250 m² and are intended for a variety of uses. A fitness centre will be located in the two-storey building. The three-storey building comprises office and catering spaces with a mezzanine level and outdoor terraces. The four-storey building, with a usable floor area of around 3,200 m², is intended to house a hotel. The site is situated near Gütersloh town centre and complements the existing retail and commercial uses in the surrounding area.

Unifying façade concept

A unifying façade concept visually links the three buildings, which vary in height. The design calls for metal façades with vertical fluting as well as large areas of glazing. Green spaces and recreational areas will be created between the buildings. Existing green spaces will be incorporated into the design and supplemented by further unsealed areas.

Roof areas and technical facilities

Green roofs are planned for all three buildings. In addition, a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 170 kWp will be installed. The site will also feature charging points for electric vehicles as well as bicycle parking spaces.

Subsoil as a special constraint

At the start of construction work, the nature of the subsoil required additional measures. To prepare the subsoil for the foundations, a total of 522 vibro-compaction columns, ranging in length from eight to twelve metres, were installed.

A new mix of uses on the edge of the city centre

The Stadttor Gütersloh project will see a site close to the city centre enhanced with office, catering, hotel and leisure facilities. The three buildings provide the structural framework for bringing together a variety of offerings on a single site and for further developing the area between the city centre and the neighbouring retail districts.

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
