At the Old Fishing Harbour in Travemünde, a new residential development called BALTIQUE has been built on a site that had remained unused for many years. PORR building construction region Nord carried out the project for FTG Fischereihafen Travemünde GmbH, a joint venture between the property developers NGEG and FRANK.

Living between the fishing harbour and the River Trave
From fishing harbour to residential district
Travemünde has always been characterised by its proximity to the River Trave, the harbour and its maritime heritage. With BALTIQUE, the former harbour site is being given a new lease of life. The development builds on the site’s history and draws on its spatial connections to the water, the marina and the fishing harbour.
Living between the River Trave and the marina
On a site covering around 18,000 m², a complex comprising twelve buildings has been created, featuring a total of 251 owner-occupied and holiday flats, twelve commercial units as well as two underground car parks. The four building plots are grouped around landscaped courtyards and face the River Trave, the fishing harbour and the marina.
In addition to the flats, space has also been created for restaurants, services and other commercial buildings. This has brought together a variety of uses within a single quarter.
A quarter by the water
The new buildings are spatially oriented towards the River Trave, the fishing harbour and the marina. In addition, a promenade is being created along the riverbank, connecting the new quarter with its surroundings and establishing a link to the water.
Building under maritime conditions
The immediate proximity to the harbour placed particular demands on site logistics, material supply and construction processes. At the same time, the requirements of various project stakeholders, as well as the individual fit-out preferences of the future owners, had to be integrated into the project management. PORR has supported the development of the quarter across several construction phases and is coordinating the implementation right through to the completion of the individual buildings.
A new urban landmark at the fishing harbour
BALTIQUE has created the structural foundations for the redevelopment of a previously derelict site at the Old Fishing Harbour. The quarter brings together residential areas, commercial buildings and recreational areas along the waterfront in a single location, forming a new phase in the development of Travemünde’s harbour area.
