On behalf of HOWOGE Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH, PORR Hochbau Region Ost has completed the WA2 and WA4 construction sites of the Havelufer Quarter in Berlin-Spandau on schedule and on a turnkey basis. With a total of 231 new rental apartments – 229 of which are subsidized – the project makes an important contribution to affordable, socially balanced housing in the capital.

231 new apartments in the sustainable Havelufer neighbourhood
Traffic-free and nestled between nature and lots of water, a relaxed residential quarter for young and old has been created on the banks of the Havel in Spandau. With restaurants, gardens, communal lounges, and open kitchens for convivial evenings, the quarter offers nature-loving people a high-quality place to live.
Social and ecological requirements
The new building offers a balanced mix of 1- to 4-room units and meets high standards of economic efficiency, sustainability, and social responsibility. By making full use of all building law, planning, and construction options, a project has been created that is both functional and ecologically forward-looking, and has been awarded the DGNB Gold Seal for its achievements. Energy-efficient construction methods, barrier-free access, and successful integration into the existing infrastructure ensure that the apartments not only remain affordable but also offer a modern, sustainable living space for different user groups in the long term.
Together with BRH Generalplaner GmbH, the building construction team impressed with its own design, which meets the requirements in a creative approach. Contrary to the original specifications, the planned pergola was located on the south side to provide shade for the building. In addition, a basement was designed as a solution to create a creative access to the apartments and generate areas with a high quality of living.
