Quartier Abraham, Oldenburg

A new mixed-use residential and commercial building is being built on a plot of around 2,700m2 in Oldenburg's pedestrian zone. The building will house retail and restaurant spaces on the ground floor and 121 micro-apartments distributed across the other floors.

PORR was awarded the contract for the demolition of the old building on the site and turnkey construction of the new property. PORR Spezialtiefbau is responsible for the specialist civil engineering work. The property is being built to the KfW Efficiency House 55 standard.

Economic efficiency and sustainability are top priorities for this project. The demolition waste is being fragmented on site and most of it will be reused for the construction.

An individual, coordinated logistics concept

The building project’s location in the busy city centre represents a logistical challenge. Waste has to be removed and construction materials delivered via narrow roads, and deliveries are restricted to predefined time slots. In addition, the pedestrian zone has many restaurants and cafés, making access even more difficult. PORR is tackling these challenges in close coordination with the City of Oldenburg and has devised a well thought-out logistical concept that reduces waste removal traffic to a minimum. 

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
