Whilst the first residents have already moved into their new homes, the project team has reached another important milestone: following the completion of the final works, the handover for Construction Plot 3 has now also taken place. Here, the Outdoor facilities have been completed, the buildings have received their final touches, and as well as the final cleaning, the fitting of the shower partitions has taken place, which has made the final preparations for the handover complete.

There is also a flurry of activity in construction areas 4 and 5. Whilst in construction area 4 the team is focusing in particular on painting work as well as the final installations of the electrical, heating, ventilation and plumbing systems, work in construction area 5 is currently centred on tiling in stairwells and bathrooms. In addition, vinyl flooring is being laid there, electrical installations are continuing, as well as the final work on the HVAC and plumbing rough-in installations and on the drywall. Many individual work steps mesh together like cogs in a wheel, moving the quarter a step further forward every day.

Working together towards the new quarter

Looking back reveals what has already been achieved: this includes, as well as the structural work, the external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS), the interior plasterwork and the screed work. In these areas, only a few remaining tasks are left to be completed. The focus is now increasingly shifting to the final finishing works and preparations for the upcoming inspections and handover.

As several construction sites are being developed simultaneously, precise coordination of all project stakeholders is essential. It is precisely through the coordinated collaboration of the various trades that the Q47 quarter is constantly evolving. With every completed construction phase, the future residential quarter becomes more visible and will shape Bochum’s cityscape in the years to come.
