Whilst the structural work continues to progress, the next preparatory measures are getting under way in the inner courtyard. These include the construction of light wells and the excavation of trenches for the subsequent routing of pipes and cables. These measures lay the foundations for the forthcoming fit-out and building services work, as well as the planned geothermal drilling.

Focus on the highest quality standards

The project centres on high design standards. In particular, the installation of exposed concrete surfaces of the highest quality requires the utmost precision in both planning and execution.

The interior fit-out also sets new standards: a striking spiral staircase is being fabricated on-site with a genuine metal finish and complemented by high-quality, large-scale timber panelling – creating an interior design that is both prestigious and sophisticated.

The central location in Berlin’s city centre presents particular challenges. The limited space available for site facilities is coming under increasing pressure due to the parallel expansion works, whilst at the same time the inner courtyard must be cleared for the upcoming works.

Furthermore, the BNB sustainability criteria shape the construction project. In particular, the selection of suitable materials and products requires careful coordination.

Major construction project in a prominent location

In the immediate vicinity of the Brandenburg Gate and surrounded by numerous government and embassy buildings, one of the most striking new-build projects in Berlin’s city centre is taking shape.
