Concrete is a building material used in road construction, the construction of traffic areas and infrastructure. Its applications range from motorways, noise barriers, drainage channels and kerbs to airfields, container terminals, as well as petrol stations and service areas.

Depending on its composition and intended use, various requirements regarding strength, frost and de-icing salt resistance, as well as performance characteristics may be taken into account. Concrete is used in new construction, maintenance and refurbishment projects in new road construction as well as in transport route engineering.
