What began a few years ago now stands as a modern residential complex right on the banks of the River Havel: on two plots of land, stretching from Marius-Carpentier-Straße to Streitstraße, three residential buildings, each with six or seven storeys, have been constructed. They blend seamlessly into the waterfront and green spaces as contemporary living spaces. For future tenants, this is becoming a new home that is subsidised, affordable and, at the same time, designed to be sustainable.

A neighbourhood that combines sustainability and community

With so-called ‘electricity-only’ buildings, photovoltaic systems on green roofs and air source heat pumps, the neighbourhood sets new standards for climate-friendly construction. It is a visible step towards a city that builds on sustainability whilst also taking on social responsibility.

Housing for a diverse urban community

The mix of homes ranges from compact one-bedroom flats to spacious four-bedroom units and is designed for singles, families, senior citizens and students. Almost half of the flats are accessible, and more than 400 bicycle parking spaces promote practical, eco-friendly mobility.

Planned in partnership, implemented responsibly

The project is the result of a trusting collaboration between HOWOGE, PORR and BRH Generalplaner GmbH. One example of the quality of the design is the front pergola, which provides shade whilst enhancing the quality of the outdoor space. A detail that is repeatedly highlighted internally as a successful design solution.

PORR has a long-standing and successful partnership with HOWOGE. The handover in the Havelufer Quartier once again underlines how reliable partnerships shape and drive forward housing construction in Berlin.
