On schedule and on track: bridge structures in Marzahn largely complete

Berlin , / Structural engineering

Significant progress has been made on the Marzahn Transport Hub project: following the installation of the precast girders for Structure 8 and the completion of the concrete works for Structure 9 at the end of April, the composite deck for Structure 8 was also successfully concreted in mid-June. Both bridge structures are now largely complete. The bridges were opened to traffic on 30 June, as scheduled.

TKP 4 construction projects: Progress as at calendar week 25, 2026

Next construction phase already in preparation

At the same time, work is underway on the retaining walls for sub-junction 4, which will in future form the ramp from Landsberger Allee onto Märkische Allee heading south. These are due to be completed by mid-July, at which point traffic can be diverted. This will pave the way for work to begin on the retaining walls for sub-junction 2 on the opposite side of the road.

Milestones since the start of construction

Since the start of detailed design in January 2025 and the commencement of construction in April 2025, the project team has achieved numerous important milestones. A first major step was taken in November 2025 with the installation of the precast elements for Structure 8 and the successful diversion of traffic on Märkische Allee.

This was followed shortly afterwards by a particularly challenging construction phase, both technically and organisationally: during a tightly scheduled track closure, a total of 17 composite precast girders for Structure 9 were lifted into place within just 32 hours. In this way, significant progress was made without disrupting rail services more than was necessary.

This positive trend continued into spring 2026. At the beginning of April, the northern superstructure of Structure 9 was concreted; this was followed at the end of April by the concreting of the southern superstructure and the installation of further precast elements for Structure 8.

Close coordination between all project stakeholders

The individual construction processes are continuously and closely co-ordinated with the client and all project partners involved. This applies in particular to the co-ordination of the various construction phases and the associated timeframes.

Environmental aspects always in focus

Furthermore, environmental aspects play an important role. An accompanying environmental construction supervision programme ensures that the work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the construction site.
