Cospuden quarter on the home stretch: maritime lifestyle becomes reality

Leipzig, / Building construction / News / Press Release

On the shores of Lake Cospuden near Leipzig, the new Quartier Cospuden urban quarter is increasingly taking shape. PORR building construction Region Ost, Schmölln site, is implementing the turnkey project on behalf of PROPOS Projektentwicklung GmbH. A total of nine buildings with owner-occupied flats and underground parking are being constructed on an area of around 9,800 square metres.

The image shows a construction site with several buildings in various stages of construction. The buildings are light yellow and have both flat and sloping roofs. There are building materials and a small excavator on the site. The sky is partly cloudy, with patches of blue visible.
A family-friendly quarter with a maritime flair is being built right on the popular Cospudener Lake – in the heart of the region's tourist centre.

Construction work is in its final phase: Houses 1 to 4 have already been completed, as has the underground car park connecting four of the apartment buildings. The final interior construction work is currently underway in buildings 5 to 9. The media connection to the public utility networks has also been completed. Work on the outdoor facilities, including roads, paths, as well as gardening and landscaping, is currently underway. The quarter is scheduled for completion in early November 2025.

A home for families

With 6,230 square metres of outdoor facilities, the quarter offers families in particular a home and children plenty of room to grow up. The promised maritime lifestyle combines natural living with urban quality. Only around 30 minutes from Leipzig city centre, this location offers a wide range of leisure and recreational opportunities in idyllic surroundings.

Construction site is a ‘visitor magnet’

Lake Cospuden is one of the most popular destinations in the region and attracts thousands of visitors, especially in the summer months, with leisure activities such as swimming, sailing, hiking and cycling. The construction site is located in the middle of this heavily frequented tourist area, which requires precise coordination. Numerous cyclists, walkers and day trippers pass through the area every day.

‘The road closures must be precisely coordinated with tourist use. In addition, there is limited space and restricted access routes, which can only be managed with a well-thought-out logistics concept. This shows that where others seek relaxation, project coordination requires the utmost concentration,’ explains site manager Anke Dimmer.
