Closing gaps with perimeter block development from the Wilhelminian era

Reudnitz became a district of Leipzig in 1889 and was long a centre of the publishing and printing industry. Well-known companies shaped the area, including the legendary Insel Verlag publishing house under Anton Kippenberg. In his honour, the new residential quarter is named ‘Antons Insel’ – a tribute to the famous publisher and an allusion to the idyllic residential concept.

PORR is realising the residential project on a 6,052 m² site. The stylish design is based on the multi-family houses from the Wilhelminian period, which still characterise the appearance of Kippenbergstraße today. Both new buildings will be constructed using solid construction methods as Efficiency House 55. All apartments open onto balconies or terraces facing the idyllic inner courtyard.

Modern living quality with a well thought-out concept

The apartment building has five full storeys and a penthouse floor and is directly connected to the historic perimeter block development. It will house 49 elegant apartments with one to four rooms. Behind it, a four-storey apartment building with a penthouse floor is being built, offering 53 exclusive 1- to 3-room apartments, which can be furnished on request. Access is via a glass-covered walkway. Thanks to an underground car park with 38 car and 240 bicycle parking spaces, the inner courtyard offers space for relaxation and neighbourly encounters.

The recipe for success: constructive work paired with Lean Construction

Following the successful projects ‘Quartier Cospuden’ and ‘Neue Kohlgärten’, ‘Antons Insel’ is already the third construction project that PORR is realising for PROPOS in Leipzig.
