PORR is expanding the OSMO paint factory in Münster with new production and storage halls
More scope for a variety of colours in Münster
With this expansion, OSMO is creating additional production and storage space, thereby strengthening its long-established presence in Münster in the long term. For PORR, the construction project also marks the continuation of a long-standing and trusting partnership, built on numerous projects successfully completed together.
Extensive new-build for production and logistics
At the heart of the project is the construction of new Halls 7 to 11 at the OSMO paint works. PORR’s scope of work includes the structural work, façade cladding, windows, doors and gates in the façade, loading bridges, internal doors and gates, and the construction of a canopy.
The new buildings cover a gross floor area of 22,548 m² and have a gross volume of 255,673 m³, thereby creating the spatial conditions for further growth and optimised production and logistics processes.
Future-proof conditions for further growth
For OSMO, this construction project represents a significant milestone in the company’s development. The company has been developing and producing high-quality wood coatings in Germany for decades and operates its own production sites in Münster and Warendorf. The new halls will enable the company to meet the market’s growing demands and further increase efficiency throughout the value chain.
Precise planning for a tight schedule
A key requirement of the client is the on-time completion of the entire construction project. Particular attention is being paid to the timely completion of Hall 8, as further work on the client’s side will follow immediately afterwards. The individual construction phases are closely interlinked and require precise coordination of all parties involved.
To meet the ambitious schedule, the project team is relying, amongst other things, on just-in-time delivery and assembly of prefabricated building elements. This allows processes on the construction site to be optimised and construction times to be managed efficiently.
“This project depends on reliability, a genuine partnership, precise processes and close coordination between all parties involved. The timely handover of individual hall sections in particular demonstrates just how important forward-looking planning and robust construction execution are,” says Mario Schniedergers, Site Manager for Münster at PORR Building Construction.
Tried-and-tested methods for quality and on-time delivery
Internally, too, PORR relies on established management and planning tools. The project utilises the Last Planner System, a lean construction method. This enables clients to rely on transparency, commitment and adherence to deadlines throughout project delivery.
Furthermore, PORR’s technical office is responsible for planning the canopy. The close integration of planning and execution ensures that quality, cost-effectiveness and deadlines are all met.
