In order to connect the new urban quarter "Europaviertel" to the urban public transport network in Frankfurt am Main, the existing underground line 5 will be extended by four stops. While the ramp collar has been completed at Europa-Allee and the civil engineering work is entering the final phase, excavation work for the future underground station Güterplatz is progressing about 250 m away.

Currently, the two tunnel tubes are being uncovered along the entire length of the approximately 170 m long, on average 30 m wide and later up to 24 m deep construction pit. Here, the team still has to move about 6000 m³ of soil before the tunnel tubes can be demolished.

You can find out more about the current status of the U5 at Güterplatz in our video.
