The works involved the removal and replacement of a total of around 32,000 m² of asphalt. In addition, approximately 7,200 m² of base course, intermediate course and surface course were newly laid in the adjacent Bockenem West and East junction areas. Carrying out the work as a weekend construction project presented a particular challenge: it was essential that the work be fully completed in time for the road to be reopened to traffic on Monday morning. Thanks to precise construction scheduling, sufficient staffing levels and excellent coordination between all project stakeholders, this tight deadline was met.

Open-graded asphalt was used in a low-temperature paving process. This method not only helps to reduce traffic noise but also enables a more resource-efficient production process.

The construction process was supported by the digital paving tool SSO (Smart Site One), which enabled precise control of the asphalt works. In addition to PORR Verkehrswegebau GmbH, the PORR Fugen business unit was also involved in the project.

With its successful completion, a further section of the A7 has been modernised for the long term. The resurfaced carriageway improves the route’s capacity and contributes to greater road safety and driving comfort. The final works in the junction areas were completed on schedule by early May 2026.
