U5 Güterplatz in Frankfurt a. M.: Concreting of the floor slab
/ Structural engineering / News / Press Release
180 metres long, 30 metres wide on average and 24 metres deep: these dimensions make the excavation pit for the "Güterplatz" light rail station, which is being built as part of the extension of the U5 light rail line to the new Europaviertel in Frankfurt am Main, one of the deepest excavation pits in the city.
At the end of April, the construction team reached the final depth of 24 metres. The concreting of blocks 1.1. to 1.4 of the structure floor was successfully completed in June.
The largest concreting took place on 24 July 2024 with the construction floor 7.4. & 7.5: Around 1,350 m3 of concrete and 400 tonnes of reinforcement were used. 40 PORRians worked in shifts from 5 a.m. to midnight and mastered the tight schedule of this demanding task with flying colours.
Our video provides exciting insights into the first concreting work on blocks 1.1/1.2 and the construction progress.
